Scholarships for 2020 entry
If your son has exceptional talent in Art, Design Technology and Engineering, Drama, Music or Sport and you wish to apply for a scholarship, please complete the appropriate scholarship application form(s) and submit along with the Whitgift Online Application Form.
All students are automatically entered for an Academic Scholarship.
Bursaries for 2020 entry
Bursaries are awarded on the basis of performance in the Entrance Examination, assessment(s) and interview. Unfortunately, not all families who are eligible for a bursary will be offered one.
Parents of prospective day pupils, whose family income is less than approximately £90,000 a year, (exact figures are available directly from the Whitgift Foundation), may apply for a bursary (an income-related fee reduction). There is a generous, but limited, annual budget for bursaries for those who qualify in terms of their income and residency.
Bursaries are not available to boarding students.
Further information about Whitgift’s bursary programme and the application form, for 2020 entry, will be available online shortly.
The Whitgift Bursary Application Form must be downloaded from the website, and submitted as a paper copy to: The Whitgift Foundation, North End, Croydon, Surrey, CR9 1SS.
Pre-Test Applications for 2022
Whitgift’s Pre-Test is open to students who will be in Year 6 in the Academic Year 2019/20 looking to enter Whitgift at 13+/ Year 9 in 2022. The ISEB (Independent Schools Examinations Board) Common Pre-Test will be taken in the Autumn Term of Year 6 at the boys’ current school. Results of the Pre-test will be reviewed and boys who perform well will be invited to sit the Whitgift examinations in early January 2020. Boys who are being considered for an offer will progress to the interview stage, which will also be held in January 2020. Offer letters will be sent out in February 2020. Boys with offers would then have a place for Year 9 in 2022 on the condition they continue to make satisfactory academic progress.
Boys offered places from the Pre-Test will be eligible to apply for Scholarships and Bursaries. Examinations and assessments for scholarships take place in January 2022 when the boys are in Year 8. Applications for these must be received by the end of November 2021.
Parents/guardians should apply for the Pre-Test from mid-August 2019 by contacting the Admissions Office to request an Application Form. These completed forms should be returned to the Admissions Office by 25 October 2019.
