Bursaries 2020

Bursaries are awarded to parents of students who perform exceptionally well in the entrance examinations and who show outstanding talent and/or potential in their chosen area(s).

Parents of prospective day students, whose family income is less than approximately £93,000 a year (exact figures are available from the John Whitgift Foundation), may apply for a bursary.  The John Whitgift Foundation calculates the bursary award, which may cover up to the entire fee.  Unfortunately, not all families who are eligible for a bursary will be offered one, as there is a generous, but limited, annual budget for bursaries.

Bursary awards will be retained throughout a student’s time in the School subject to satisfactory academic progress, good behaviour and meeting the John Whitgift Foundation criteria (reassessed each year).

A bursary application must be made in advance of the Entrance Examination (online or by form) and submitted to the John Whitgift Foundation by Friday 22 November 2019 for 10+, 11+ and 13+ and by Friday 18 October 2019 for Sixth Form.  Applications may be made online or by paper form.  To complete a bursary application please download a bursary form from the documents below and return to John Whitgift Foundation by 22 November 2019 for 10+ 11+ and 13+ applications and by Friday 18 October 2019 for 16+ applications.

If applying on paper, bursary forms should be posted to the John Whitgift Foundation at the following address:
