Whitgift welcomes applications for students aged 10+, 11+, and 13+, who attend both independent and maintained schools.
Applications can be submitted online from mid-August to the 22 November in the year prior to entering the School. Scholarship applications, Educational Psychologist reports and other supporting documents must be included with the application. All students who sit the Entrance Examinations are automatically considered for an Academic Scholarship.
Once an application has been received, a reference will be requested from the prospective student’s current Head Teacher.
Entrance Examinations for 10+ and 11+ applicants is Thursday 9 January 2020.
Entrance Examinations for the 13+ applicants is Monday 13 January 2020.
Parents will be notified of exact timings in late December.
Students are invited in for a full day and will sit the examinations in small groups. A snack and lunch will be provided.
The Examinations consists of tests in Mathematics, English and Verbal Reasoning for 10+ and 11+ students, while 13+ students sit tests in Mathematics, English and Science. Section Française applicants will also sit a test in French. Students whose first language is not English, may be required to sit an English as an Additional Language (EAL) examination in-place of the standard English examination.
All students who have performed well in the Entrance Examinations, and are being considered for an offer, will be invited for an interview at Whitgift. In addition, applicants who have been selected for scholarship consideration in Art/Design Technology and Engineering/Drama/Music/Sport, will also be asked to attend an assessment/audition.
