Dayle Kirby is the Pastoral Deputy. He read English Literature and Religious Studies at Cardiff University, before completing his teacher training at Westminster College. He is a keen sportsman, having coached rugby at County level in Sussex. He spent eighteen years at Christ’s Hospital School in Horsham, where he taught English and Theology and Philosophy, and held the positions of Houseparent, Designated Safeguarding Lead and Assistant Head (Pastoral) before joining Whitgift in 2019.
The main responsibilities of the Pastoral Deputy are:
- To oversee all aspects of pastoral care, managing the Assistant Head (Academic and Boarding), Proctor, Section Heads, Medical Centre and PSHEE
- To be the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead
- To ensure high standards of tutoring and care
