Munich Exchange Trip 2015
In the first week of July, 19 Upper Third Form pupils travelled to Munich accompanied by Mr Hunt and Miss Smith (Mrs King). Highlights included visiting the Allianz Arena, home of FC Bayern Munich; a visit to the Olympic Park (where they ascended the Olympic Tower for a spectacular view of the city); and a barbecue and football match by a local lake.
During their time with the German families, many pupils visited local historic sites such as Neuschwanstein Castle, or crossed the border into Austria for some hiking, followed by a cola and giant pretzel in the 'Biergarten'. Due to a heatwave, school finished early on three days, leaving the boys free to enjoy the weather with their exchange partners, fortunately they avoided needing to use the phrase "Ich habe mir einen sonnenbrand geholt" (I'm sunburnt!).
The exchange trip provided an excellent opportunity for the boys to visit one of the finest cities in Europe, to make friends with students from another country, and to improve their knowledge of both Classics and the German language.
